CLEAN WATER OF AFRICA

Created in 2021, EAU PROPRE D’AFRIQUE SARL is dedicated to No. 6 of the United Nations SDGs.
Our objective is to provide safe and affordable drinking water to semi-urban and rural populations with this very precious commodity. With climate financing support of the German company atmosfair GmbH and our technology providers such as Autarcon GmbH and iSAtech water GmbH Solarspring, our solar-based approach to improve drinking water supply is unique.
Several water kiosks, which are connected to one central purification system via a large pipe system, provide a larger group of residents with easy access to safe drinking water.

EAU PROPRE D’AFRIQUE SARL operates in Togo, Burkina Faso and Ghana.

Access to safe drinking water.

With our decentralized drinking water network, the main task is to provide
clean water to children, adolescents and the elderly stay healthy.

As A Group

A major leading cause of death in children under five years old is diarrhea, which is often a result of poor sanitation and dirty water.
With respect to the United Nations World Water Development Report 2024:
Water for Prosperity and Peace, water -the Sustainable Development Goal 6 – is vital for peace, health and wealth.

In Sub-Saharan Africa, most of the region suffers from inappropriate or inexistant water infrastructure.
Water quality appears to be widely deteriorating.
Women and girls/children are often the primary collectors of water. This increases the threat of violence and reduces time for work, education and leisure.

Why We Care About Water

Safe drinking water is vital for everyone. As of 2022, 2.2 billion people were without access to safely managed drinking water (SDG Target 6.1).

Progress was mainly limited to urban areas, rural areas still accounted for four out of five people lacking at least basic drinking water services in 2022 (UNICEF/WHO, 2023). It isn’t a commodity but a necessary building block for securing the future of an at-risk child.

Until clean water is secure in the world of an at-risk child, nothing else is secure.

How We Provide Water

EAU PROPRE D’AFRIQUE SARL builds water kiosks for communities. The building of water kiosks includes the drilling of new boreholes and the installation of solar-powered water purification systems connected to several water kiosks.
Each decentralized drinking water network has at least one water kiosk at a school site with drinking water free of charge for students.
Water treatment system
(a) An Autarcon anodic oxidation system is used at the Lorenzo Beach, Kpessi and Adjegan sites. The SuMeWa system is 100% solar (off-grid) and disinfects the entire volume flow of the pumped water.

Anodic Oxidation: This procedure is based on an electrolytic process with the help of which the necessary disinfectant chlorine is produced from a common salt solution.
The chlorine produced is dosed into the pumped water to be disinfected in proportion to the flow rate, making it ideal for solar powered feed pumps. The required amount of chlorine is always produced fresh and as needed, ensuring consistently high water quality.
